Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a food processor, blend 4 oz of almond paste, 1/4 cup of softened butter, and 1/4 cup of sugar until smooth.
  3. Add half of the beaten egg to the almond mixture and mix until incorporated.
  4. Sprinkle in 1 tbsp of all-purpose flour into the almond filling and mix thoroughly.
  5. Roll out the thawed puff pastry and slice into three equal rectangles.
  6. Spread the almond filling on one half of each rectangle, then fold over and seal.
  7. Make three to four cuts along the folded edge of each pastry to create claw shapes.
  8. Arrange pastries on the prepared baking sheet, brush with reserved beaten egg, and sprinkle with sliced almonds and coarse sugar.
  9. Bake for 16-18 minutes until puffed and golden brown; allow to cool slightly.
  10. Whisk together 1 1/4 cups of powdered sugar, 3 tbsp of milk, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract until smooth.
  11. Drizzle the icing over the cooled pastries and serve.
