  • 1 cup Basmati Rice rinsed until water runs clear

  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 pinch Red Chilli Flakes optional
  • 1 teaspoon Lime Zest
  • 3 cups Water
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
For the Freshness
  • 1 cup Chopped Cilantro (Coriander) fresh
  • 1 cup Scallions (Spring Onions) optional garnish, sliced
For the Flavor Adjustment
  • 1-2 limes Lime Juice to taste

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large pan, heat sunflower oil over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until shimmering. Add rinsed basmati rice and sauté for 2-3 minutes until slightly toasted.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and red chilli flakes (if using) and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Add lime zest, 3 cups of water, and salt, mixing well.
  3. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium-high heat. Once simmering, reduce heat to low, cover the pan, and cook undisturbed for 15 minutes.
  4. After 15 minutes, remove from heat and let it rest covered for an additional 10 minutes to absorb moisture.
  5. Fluff the rice with a fork, drizzle lime juice, and fold in chopped cilantro gently.
  6. Garnish with sliced scallions and serve hot with your favorite dishes.
