Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather your ingredients to prepare for assembly.
  2. In a large skillet, brown 1 pound of lean ground beef with 1 diced yellow onion and 1 chopped red bell pepper for 6–8 minutes.
  3. Stir in taco seasoning, sour cream, mayonnaise, and diced green chiles. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine biscuit mix with 3/4 cup water to form a thick dough.
  5. Lightly spray a 9x13-inch casserole dish. Layer half of the beef mixture, then half of the biscuit dough, followed by half of the cheddar cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining beef mixture, biscuit dough, and cheese.
  7. Pour salsa over the top and sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden-brown and bubbly.
  9. Let cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
