  • 2 tablespoons Oil For frying
For the Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar Can substitute with less sugar and add rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 tablespoon Korean Red Chili Powder Adjust to taste
  • 1 piece Red Chili Optional, pounded
  • 1 tablespoon White Sesame Can substitute with black sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil For drizzling
  • 2 tablespoons Water For sauce consistency
For Garnish
  • 1 stalk Green Onion Reserve some for garnish

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions for Spicy Korean Tofu
  1. Drain the tofu and slice it into 1/4-inch rectangles. Pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. Combine soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, Korean red chili powder, and pounded red chili in a mixing bowl. Stir in water and add white sesame seeds.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add oil and fry tofu slices for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Flip tofu slices and cook for another 3-4 minutes until crispy.
  5. Pour in the prepared sauce and simmer for 2-4 minutes, coating the tofu.
  6. Transfer tofu to a serving platter, drizzle with remaining sauce and garnish with green onion.
