Method
 

  1. Grate the sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheese, then set aside. Gather all other ingredients.
  2. In a large pot, combine 2 cups of water and 1 cup of uncooked macaroni. Bring to a vigorous boil for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook uncovered for 8-10 minutes, until al dente.
  4. Lower heat further and add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, cheeses, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, mustard, and sugar. Stir until cheese melts into a creamy sauce.
  5. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.
