Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Tear 5 large day-old croissants into bite-sized chunks and place them in a greased 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  2. Brown 1 lb of ground sausage in a skillet over medium heat for 7-10 minutes; then layer over croissant chunks.
  3. Whisk together 6 large eggs, 2 cups of whole milk, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon onion powder.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the croissants and sausage, gently pressing down to ensure all pieces soak.
  5. Cover the casserole with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate overnight.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C); bake for about 45 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Optionally broil for 2 minutes for a crispy top, and add more cheese in the last 10 minutes of baking.
  8. Let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
