Preparation Steps
- Tear 5 large day-old croissants into bite-sized chunks and place them in a greased 9x13-inch casserole dish.
- Brown 1 lb of ground sausage in a skillet over medium heat for 7-10 minutes; then layer over croissant chunks.
- Whisk together 6 large eggs, 2 cups of whole milk, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon onion powder.
- Pour the egg mixture over the croissants and sausage, gently pressing down to ensure all pieces soak.
- Cover the casserole with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C); bake for about 45 minutes until golden brown.
- Optionally broil for 2 minutes for a crispy top, and add more cheese in the last 10 minutes of baking.
