Cake Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese and unsalted butter until smooth. Gradually add in sugar, mixing well.
- Incorporate eggs one at a time, followed by milk and orange juice, stirring until smooth.
- Fold in cake flour mixed with baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add vegetable oil, orange zest, and orange extract.
- Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 28-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes before inverting onto wire racks to cool completely.
- Prepare the frosting by beating softened butter and cream cheese until fluffy. Add vanilla, orange extract, and salt, then mix in powdered sugar.
- Once cooled, layer one cake on a serving plate, frost with orange cream cheese frosting, then place the second layer on top and frost the sides.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve, allowing to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before slicing.
