Ingredients

For the Brownies
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter Substitute with coconut oil for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar Can be partially replaced with brown sugar for deeper flavor.
  • 2 large Large Eggs No direct substitute recommended for binding.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Using pure vanilla will yield a more aromatic profile.
  • 1 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder Ensure it's unsweetened for perfect balance.
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour Use almond or gluten-free flour blend for a gluten-free option.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Enhances sweetness and balances flavors.
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder Acts as a leavening agent.
For the Topping
  • 2 cups Mini Marshmallows If using larger marshmallows, cut them into smaller pieces.
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips Dark chocolate chips can be used for a richer flavor.

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • 8x8-inch baking pan
  • Oven

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8 inch baking pan with unsalted butter or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted unsalted butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until glossy.
  3. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gently fold until just combined to keep brownies fudgy.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the baking pan, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  5. Bake for 22 to 25 minutes. A toothpick inserted should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Immediately sprinkle mini marshmallows over the brownies after removing them from the oven. Return to oven for 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. Microwave chocolate chips in 30-second intervals until melted. Drizzle over the marshmallows once they are puffed up.
  8. Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing into 12 squares.
