- Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Heat a splash of olive oil in a large skillet. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent, then add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add ground beef and Italian sausage, cook until browned and drain excess fat.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, dried basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20-25 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, sour cream, egg, grated Parmesan, and chopped parsley until smooth.
- Layer in the baking dish: meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers ending with noodles and cheeses on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
