Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat a splash of olive oil in a large skillet. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent, then add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Add ground beef and Italian sausage, cook until browned and drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, dried basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20-25 minutes.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, sour cream, egg, grated Parmesan, and chopped parsley until smooth.
  6. Layer in the baking dish: meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers ending with noodles and cheeses on top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Allow to rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
