  • 12 pieces Jumbo Pasta Shells can substitute with manicotti
  • 1 pound Ground Beef can substitute with ground turkey or chicken
  • 15 ounces Ricotta Cheese can use cottage cheese as an alternative
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese essential for topping
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Pecorino Romano can be used as an alternative
  • 1 large Egg omit if vegan or use flax egg
  • 1 medium Onion fresh preferred
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • to taste Salt and Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Basil fresh preferred
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano freshly chopped is ideal
For the Assembly
  • 3 cups Marinara Sauce homemade is ideal
  • 1 cup Extra Mozzarella Cheese for sprinkling on top

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Cook the pasta in salted boiling water for 10-12 minutes until al dente. Drain and cool in a bowl of cold water.
  2. Prepare the beef filling by cooking ground beef in a skillet until browned. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.
  3. Mix the cheese filling by combining ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, and a beaten egg in a bowl. Season with salt, pepper, basil, and oregano.
  4. Stuff the shells with the beef and ricotta mixture. Place in a baking dish with marinara sauce.
  5. Pour remaining marinara sauce on top and sprinkle with extra mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake covered in foil at 375°F for 25 minutes, then uncovered for 10 minutes until bubbly.
  7. Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or Parmesan.
