Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x9 square baking pan with parchment paper or butter.
- In a medium bowl, whisk flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until blended and set aside.
- In a separate large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition until fully integrated.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredient mixture until just combined to avoid overmixing.
- Press half of the cookie dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
- Drizzle caramel sauce over the pressed dough and spread it evenly.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the caramel layer.
- Crumble the remaining cookie dough over the chocolate chips and caramel layer.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes, then lift out and slice into squares.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, and store leftovers in an airtight container.

Notes
For best results, use room temperature butter, avoid overmixing, and choose quality caramel sauce. Allow bars to cool for neat slicing.
