Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Tenderize the steak by placing it between plastic wrap and pounding gently with a meat mallet until about 1 inch thick.
  2. Prepare the marinade by combining olive oil, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and selected herbs and spices in a Ziploc bag. Set aside 2 tablespoons for later.
  3. Marinate the steak in the sealed bag for at least 4 hours, preferably up to 12 hours in the refrigerator.
  4. Preheat the broiler to high (approximately 550°F) and line a baking dish with aluminum foil.
  5. Remove the marinated steak from the bag, allow excess marinade to drip off, and place in the prepared dish. Broil for 4-6 minutes on one side, then flip and broil for 5-7 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 130-135°F for medium-rare.
  6. Rest the steak for 10 minutes on a cutting board, then slice thinly against the grain and drizzle with reserved marinade and herb butter.
