Step-by-Step Instructions
- Tenderize the steak by placing it between plastic wrap and pounding gently with a meat mallet until about 1 inch thick.
- Prepare the marinade by combining olive oil, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and selected herbs and spices in a Ziploc bag. Set aside 2 tablespoons for later.
- Marinate the steak in the sealed bag for at least 4 hours, preferably up to 12 hours in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the broiler to high (approximately 550°F) and line a baking dish with aluminum foil.
- Remove the marinated steak from the bag, allow excess marinade to drip off, and place in the prepared dish. Broil for 4-6 minutes on one side, then flip and broil for 5-7 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 130-135°F for medium-rare.
- Rest the steak for 10 minutes on a cutting board, then slice thinly against the grain and drizzle with reserved marinade and herb butter.

Notes
For optimal flavor, let the steak marinate longer and always slice against the grain for maximum tenderness.
