Preparation Steps
- Begin by slicing the focaccia pieces in half horizontally. Place the bottom halves on a clean serving plate.
- Take your arugula and generously pile it on top of the focaccia.
- Next, slice the fresh mozzarella cheese into thick rounds and place these slices over the arugula.
- Add the large tomato slices on top of the mozzarella, overlapping slightly.
- If desired, sprinkle the roasted cherry tomatoes and pickled red onions over the tomato layer.
- Now, scatter fresh basil leaves over the top of your layered creation. Drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil.
- Sprinkle flaky sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste, then place the top half of the focaccia on the sandwich.
- Slice the completed Caprese Sandwich in half for easier handling and serve it right away.
