  • 1 cup Sugar fine granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Water for making simple syrup
  • 1 cup Fresh Lemon Juice freshly squeezed

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions for Strawberry Basil Lemonade
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sliced fresh strawberries, and 1 cup of fresh basil leaves. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently until the sugar completely dissolves. Let it simmer gently for about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly for about 5 minutes. Strain the syrup into a pitcher using a fine mesh sieve, pressing the solids to extract as much flavor as possible. Discard the solids.
  3. Stir in 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice and 2 cups of cold water or sparkling water to the strained syrup and mix well. Adjust the sweetness by adding more water or sugar to taste.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or serve immediately over ice for a refreshing drink.
  5. Pour the chilled Strawberry Basil Lemonade over ice and garnish with a basil leaf and a lemon wheel before serving.
