Ingredients

For the Curry
  • 1 tablespoon Oil or Ghee Helps in sautéing and enhances flavor; substitute with vegetable oil if needed.

Recipe Instructions
  1. Step 1: Heat a tablespoon of oil or ghee in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Sear the chuck steak for about 4-5 minutes until browned on all sides. Transfer to slow cooker.
  2. Step 2: In the same pan, add a bit more oil if needed and toss in the chopped onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until onions are translucent.
  3. Step 3: Sprinkle the turmeric, coriander, cumin, garam masala, and red chili powder into the pan. Cook for 1 minute, stirring continuously.
  4. Step 4: Pour in the beef broth and water, gently scraping up the brown bits. Simmer for about 2 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  5. Step 5: Transfer the aromatic mixture to the slow cooker, add the cinnamon stick, bay leaf, chopped cilantro, and salt. Stir gently.
  6. Step 6: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours. Check beef for tenderness before serving.
  7. Step 7: Once beef is tender, stir the curry gently and garnish with additional cilantro. Serve with naan or basmati rice.
